This only effects ping/latency caused by your processor not being able to handle all the information being sent in and out of the server. Most modern day computers do not have this problem.

Has little to no effect as other have stated and can cause issues if left running too long at real-time priority, it's the quality and speed of your connection/host that makes the difference.

THIS WILL NOT DECREASE PING! This has little to NO effect on the network or how the process handles ping requests -- AT ALL! If you want to decrease ping, get a better network card/ISP/stop torrenting! SETTING THINGS TO REALTIME HAS NO EFFECT ON PING TIMES.

Never, ever, ever, EVER set a server/game to "realtime". You're asking for trouble.

The only time I even touch priorities is if I'm DJing, and I only change it to above normal.

    NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

    don't ever set a program to 'real-time'

if something bad happens, (and it will) then you can't stop it. real-time means it will be executed on top of any other program, and if it ends up taking too much ram, it will NOT give it back. to put it simply, the process for task manager, for ctrl+alt+del, for closing a program...they all operate below real-time priority. you will frak your computer over.
