Commando Walther MPL

A generic camouflage gun. Yep. Contains peewees. Not my proudest work. Uses default sig552 animations, although slightly edited. It was tested on a local server, don't know if it works online though.

    I could've picked a better camouflage.

    • But animation fits it bad, specialy "reload", to steel animation from sg552 is not enough - he's still trying to catch a bold magasine))

    I am no expert in animation, and I really hate the way he grips the magazine. I guess the mp5 animations would fit it more or something. I didn't remember to go around and find a more suitable animation.

    • And blood camo again: however much cool it looks, it still does not fill in the game autmosphere

    I know, it looks too COD-ish.

    • Next time search for more compitable animations or do them yourself, it is not hard

    Pros:

    • Yeah, Germans made a lot of pretty guns and MPL is one of them.
    • Model is enough realistic.
    • Blood camo is also not bad.
    • Good UW map, optimal and low place taking.

    Cons:

    • But animation fits it bad, specially "reload", to steel animation from sg552 is not enough - he's still trying to catch a bold magazine.
    • Also animation makes it look like mp5, if I were you, I'd make "idle" animation with right hand holding body of a gun like KRISS V.
    • Bugs in texturing: holes on forearm and front sight.
    • Gun looks "separated" by planes because of separation in textures, it is not good.
    • Absolutely no optimization.
    • And blood camo again: however much cool it looks, it still does not fill in the game atmosphere.

    Improvements:

    • Next time search for more compatible animations or do them yourself, it is not hard.
    • Small texture is good, but you cannot show as much details as you may wish. Trust me, a couple of scratches, signs and etc. always looks good.
    • Consider the smoothing between planes while texturing, they should have some roundness (for example in the "nape" of the gun an angle looks too sharp).
    • "p" and "w" models should be lower detailed than "v", not only because of game atmosphere, but also for optimization.

    Notes:

    • When you decide to add camo, first think "would not it look better without it?"
    • Animating is not too hard to do, try it.
    • So, as I sad earlier, you've got a good taste.

    And a lst one: "p" models works on every servers if it works on yours, except the ones with high sv_accelerate.
